FAQs

Overhead door systems are complicated, we get it. Read some of our most frequently asked questions.

Do you give free garage door estimates?

We are happy to give free estimates for sales of doors and openers. Because service and repair work involves a site inspection by a qualified technician, we may charge a minimum service fee to diagnose equipment problems.

What measurements do I need for a door?

1. Width of the opening from jamb to jamb
2. Height of the opening from the floor to the bottom of the header
3. Headroom from the top of the opening to the ceiling or first obstruction

How much does a new garage door cost?

Garage door pricing will vary according to size, strength, level of customized design, insulation value, etc. Our experienced sales staff is trained to provide you with the information you need to find the right door for your home.

Can I use my existing opener on a new door?

Yes, but, it must meet specific requirements in order to prevent entrapment. The Opener codes are specified by State and Federal guidelines. Existing machines are checked first by the serial number and manufacturer name, then by proper installation and finally by condition.

Should I be concerned by noisy door?

In most cases the squeaky noise is caused when older spring coils rub against one another. This isn't a safety concern and can be corrected with a spray on lubricant or by running a thin bead of motor oil across the top of each spring. If that doesn't work, call our service department.

When I replace my existing door, can I keep my old track?

We recommend replacing your track when you replace your door. Replacing your track is an inexpensive way to ensure that your entire garage door system is as safe as possible. By replacing your track you also ensure that your door warranty will apply, in the event that you have a problem.

You may compare your garage door to the other doors in your home, but the truth is your garage door is more closely related to your appliances. It is a complex mechanical device that needs regular maintenance, adjustments, and repair to remain in top operating condition. This includes annual tune-ups, like the ones you schedule for your HVAC system. This ensures your door is working properly and prevents costly repairs down the road.

A few safety checks and maintenance projects can be done yourself. However, repair, replacement, installation, and most maintenance needs to be completed by trained and experienced service technicians.

Your garage door system is intricate and complicated. Children should understand that this system is not a toy and homeowners should always use extreme caution around garage doors.

Garage doors can be made from a variety of materials, depending on how you want your door to look and operate. Popular options include wood, different metals, vinyl, and more. A popular design option is to make your garage door look like wood, no matter the material it is made of.
